21 - 24 October 2021

The long awaited first ever Colchester Fringe, following pandemic rescheduling, finally took over the town with 62 shows spread across four days. We took over took over theatres, shops, pubs, and nightclubs across the city centre, and filled them with a huge array of performances including comedy, dance, cabaret, musical theatre and more.

There were more than 1,700 tickets sold, with 23 theatre companies and 100 artists taking to theatres, shops, pubs and nightclubs and filling them with extraordinary performances.

Half of the artists programmed were locals from across Essex, and half were from across the UK and international acts, supporting our aims of giving a platform to rising artists and introduce their work to communities, and to showcase new work and new acts to Colchester, England's very first town.

Ellen is Colchester Fringe's general manager, and is involved in everything from programming and artist liaising to volunteer management, fundraising and long-term festival strategy, box office and ticket sales, marketing and branding, and ensuring everyone involved in the festival is operating in a covid safe, responsible way, while helping to problem solve and trouble shoot.
